Solidarity Handicap: 5 years on…

handicapOur teams are active in helping people living with a disability within Gabonese society.Over the last 5 years, 767 different pieces of equipment have been distributed by the SBO Foundation across the whole of the Gabonese territory: scooters, electric wheelchairs, manual wheelchairs and walking frames.This year, to coincide with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities we have decided to give particular attention to those suffering from sight impairment.
In order to improve accessibility and help them in their everyday movements, 170 white canes were given to members of;
- the National Union for the Blind and Sight-impaired of Gabon;
- the National Association for the Blind and Partially-blind of Gabon;
- the BITSANA Association;
This day is the perfect one to encourage each and every citizen of Gabon to mobilise in support of disabled people’s dignity, of their rights and of their well-being.
