In 2012, 56 % of women in Gabon declared having been the victims of acts of violence during their lives, 1 woman out of 5 having suffered sexual violence before she turned 14.
It is our joint responsibility to combat these forms of violence. To mark National Women’s Day, the Sylvia Bongo Ondimba Foundation for the Family wishes to voice its protest against domestic violence, because saying nothing is consenting, doing nothing is aiding and abetting.
We ask you to mobilise with us on this topic, to speak out, to assist, to support, to intervene, and to bear witness. Because every woman of Gabon is a treasure, for our mothers, for our sisters, for our daughters, let’s act!
